Jay adapts to his students' needs, and his teaching style is calm, engaging, and interactive. He uses real-world analogies and examples to help reinforce concepts and ideas which are new to his students, and he helps students find their own answers.
Jay graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from the City University of New York with Magna Cum Laude honors.
Upon relocating to Hong Kong, he provided tutoring services to students from DGS, St Clare’s Girls’ School, and Ying Wa Girls’ School to prepare them for the DSE English examination during the initial years of its introduction.
With 10 years of teaching experience, Jay has excelled in instructing the following subjects:
- Test Preparation (SAT, SSAT, IELTS & TOEFL)
- English (IB SL, IGCSE, DSE and Writing)
- Business (IB, IGCSE and A-Level)
- Economics (IB and A-Level)
- Sciences, Physics, Chemistry & Biology (IGCSE)
Jay’s personal interests span from third-wave coffee and Chinese tea culture to strength training, and Southeast Asian and South Asian history.
Jay has always wanted to make a difference in the world, and he loves to help people. He got his start with teaching at the City University of New York - York College as a writing tutor, and feels teaching is the best fit for his personality type.
