Evan Ma

Math, Physics

Evan is more inclined to help students understand the 'why' behind the equations, rather than just knowing them.

Evan earned his BSc (Hons) in Applied Science from Queen’s University and went on to get an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University as well as an MSc in Mathematics for Actuarial Science and Finance from City University of Hong Kong.

Over the past 2 years, Evan has taught all of the following:

  • IB Math HL/SL
  • AP Calculus
  • IB Physics HL/SL
  • AP Physics
  • SAT Math Foundation

Evan’s inquisitive nature and broad educational background make him excellent for students who are interested in learning the “why” behind mathematical equations in addition to the “how”. For this reason, Evan is an ideal teacher for self-motivated students who initiate their own learning and who want to know more than just what is cov- ered in the syllabus.

Evan is always seeking to expand his own education, particularly in physics.

When he’s not busy teaching, Evan studies Japanese and loves traveling in Japan.

Evan’s approach to teaching is cheerfully productive. His clear and careful explanations make the topic seem logical and easy – a puzzle more than a problem.
